Frequently Asked Questions

How do I import photos?

Choose an editing tool on the home screen, then select a photo using the system photo picker. The picker shares only the photos you select. For a collage, select the images you want to combine. If a photo is stored only in iCloud, connect to the internet and let it download before editing.

Can I edit offline, and what should I expect from the tools?

PicEdit processes images on your device; it does not upload them to an editing service. Once the source images are available locally, editing can work offline. Purchases, restoring subscriptions, and some Apple services require a connection.

Text replacement works best on small text over plain or lightly textured backgrounds. The automatically matched text style may differ from the original. The eraser blends nearby image content, so large objects or complex textures may leave visible marks. Smart cutout results depend on the image and device; use the erase and restore brushes to refine the edges.

How do I keep a transparent background?

Choose PNG in the export format setting to preserve transparent areas in cutouts and stickers. JPEG uses a solid background and is useful when a smaller file is preferred. A PNG file is transparent only where the edited image actually contains transparency; adding an opaque background covers those areas.

What is the difference between saving a work and exporting an image?

A saved work lives in the Works tab with its working original and supported editing state, so you can reopen it on this device. Tap Save in the editor to save your work and add the resulting image to Photos. Where offered, Save and close keeps the work in the app when you leave the editor. You can also share a finished image from Works.

Saving to Photos requires permission to add photos. An exported PNG or JPEG is a finished image, not a backup of an editable work. Works and personal stickers are stored locally; restoring a purchase does not restore them. Deleting the app removes this local content. Save important images to Photos or Files before removing the app.

How do I make my own stickers?

Open Make stickers, allow camera access when requested, place the subject inside the green frame, choose an outline style, and tap Make sticker. You can also choose an existing photo using the control at the bottom left. The result is saved to My stickers and is available in the Mine category in other editing tools. Clear lighting and a distinct subject usually help the cutout.

What is included in Free and PRO?

The free version includes a total allowance of 5 finished images and 15 personal stickers, a 200 MB local library limit, standard saving up to 2048 pixels on the longest edge, and collages of up to 4 photos. Free styles, stickers, backgrounds, and templates are available as shown in the app.

An active PRO subscription removes the app’s save-count and local library quotas, unlocks the additional content shown in the membership comparison, supports collages of up to 9 photos, and enables HD saving at the working image size. Device storage and processing limits still apply; HD does not recover detail lost during earlier processing.

The free allowances are totals, not daily or monthly quotas. Deleting a work or reinstalling the app does not reset them. Check the membership screen for the current plans, prices, and available benefits.

How do I restore my subscription?

Sign in to the App Store with the Apple Account used for the purchase. Open the PRO subscription screen and tap Restore purchases at the top right. An internet connection may be required. Restore applies to an active eligible subscription; expired or refunded subscriptions do not unlock PRO. If the subscription still does not appear, check the purchasing account and contact us with the error message.

How do I cancel my subscription?

On your iPhone or iPad, open Settings > [your name] > Subscriptions, select PicEdit, and choose Cancel Subscription if available. Deleting PicEdit does not cancel a subscription. See Apple’s cancellation instructions for help.

How do I request a refund?

Apple handles App Store payments and refund requests. Follow Apple’s refund instructions to submit a request. Eligibility and the outcome are determined by Apple; contacting our support team does not itself cancel a subscription or issue a refund.

Technical Support

Device Compatibility

PicEdit supports iPhone and iPad running iOS 17.0 or iPadOS 17.0 and later. Processing performance and automatic subject detection can vary by device and image.

Troubleshooting

If something is not working, try these steps:

  1. Update PicEdit to the latest available version and restart the app.
  2. Check that your device has enough free storage. If an import stalls, confirm that the original photo has downloaded from iCloud.
  3. If saving to Photos or using the camera fails, check PicEdit’s permissions in the device’s Settings.
  4. Try a smaller image or a simpler edit, then restart your device if the problem continues.
  5. Contact us with the steps and any error message if the issue persists.

Keep the app installed while troubleshooting so your local works and stickers remain available. Before any reinstallation, save important finished images outside the app; exported images do not preserve editable project data.
